It has been 68 months since using Algae Turf Scrubber as main filtration. No skimmer. Now 29 months since going to a near zero water change methodology.
I lost my first acropora in over 2 years. The large green millipora in the upper right corner. Just melted overnight. No warning. I did try to save a few tips but they also melted within the next day. No obvious reasons, it had been on of my fast growers. Tank temp was fine, no other stresses seen in other corals. As a precaution, I did do a rare 40g water water change. I used the water change as an opportunity to drain and clean the sump from detritus. In addion to the green millipora, I also lost a blue tipped tenius frag. I don't think they are related as the tenius frag had turned real light color for many months prior, out of laziness I didn't move the coral to lower light and should have.
It has been about 2 weeks since the coral losses. I'm still on Orange alert for any other signs. I'm also past due on sending in a Triton Water Test. Will get that sent early next week.
RIP to my green Millipora colony, Last known pic of it:
